Creation of the association Les Marmites du Turfu

Les Marmites du Turfu was born after the success of the Festin du Turfu, which took place on 8 June 2024 at the Phare Citadelle in Strasbourg.

With over 600 people attending, it was clear to us that plant-based food is a subject that interests the people of Strasbourg. Obviously, there is no association offering ‘hands on’ events around this cuisine.

So, together with several of the co-organisers of the Festin, we decided to set up an association to encourage people living in the Eurometropole to take up plant-based cooking. To do this, we want to organise monthly events in conjunction with the region's plant-based actors.

We hope this will boost the local plant market and help create synergies.

At the end of September, 8 of us signed the constitution of the Marmites du Turfu and in December, our association was officially created.

We waited until the beginning of 2025 to inaugurate our baby association. The inauguration took place in the Digital Village at the Manufacture des Tabacs and was attended by over 100 people. It was all made possible by a dozen loyal partners who made it possible for us to hold a convivial, gourmet event. We were even lucky enough to have the support of Antoine Neumann, the Strasbourg city councillor responsible for agriculture, school canteens and food.

A fine omen for the future of our association.

Although I've already done quite a bit of voluntary work and been involved with associations in my life, setting up an association was a completely different challenge. Creating from scratch an organisation that works and that is in line with our values, all the administrative and financial aspects, all new challenges to take on head on! But we're determined to get things moving and once we've got the hang of it, we'll be on our way!

I'm so grateful to my colleagues for their energy, their collaboration and their commitment to this human adventure, which I have no doubt will be rich and, above all, delicious!
